Proper Fish Tank Water Treatment For Healthy Fish

If you want to have healthy fish, you need to have the right type of water in your fish tank. Many people who are just beginning to set up a fish tank don’t understand how important it is to test your water and treat it for any imbalances. You need to have the right water for your fish.

Different fish have different requirements when it comes to the condition of the water that they will do best in. It is always a good idea to test your water for the pH, gH, and kH levels and try to get fish that thrive in water similar to the water that you already have. This will mean less work for you when it comes to fish tank water treatment.

Tap water tends to be the best type of water for your freshwater fish tanks, but it does need some treatment before it can be used. Chlorine is not good for fish, so you need to remove the chlorine from the water before adding it to your tank. You can use a conditioner as a way to try to correct any imbalances in your water and add beneficial substances. This type of fish tank water treatment is common. It will get rid of the chlorine. You can also leave tap water sitting out for 24 hours to get rid of chlorine, though this will not correct any other imbalances.

If the pH of your water is not at the right level, or is not remaining stable, you might need to do a fish tank water treatment in order to correct this. Sometimes this can be as simple as mixing a small amount of spring water in with the tank water. Other times you will need to treat whatever is causing the pH fluctuation.

You also need to make sure that the kH, or concentration of carbonates and bicarbonates, in your water is at the proper level. These help to buffer the water so that the pH stays more constant, otherwise as time goes on it will get acidic. There are a number of different options you can use for fish tank water treatment if you have high or low kH levels, including various chemicals you can purchase at the store.

You gH is the general hardness of your water. Some fish prefer harder water and some prefer softer water. You can use peat moss to soften the water, or add rocks to help harden the water. The simplest thing to do is get fish that suit the water that you already have so you don’t need to do too much treatment of your water.

The Bull Terrier: Favored Pet Of The Gentry

The Bull Terrier or the English Terrier is a breed of terrier type that was developed in England. The Africans call this breed Varkhond which means pig dog. This may be due to the fact that the Bull Terrier’s head and eyes resemble a pig or because there was a time in South Africa when Bull Terriers were popularly used for bush-pig and warthog hunting.

This breed can trace its roots from the Bull and Terrier breeds of the 18th century. These Bull and Terriers were born aggressive, unwary and agile in fighting monstrous animals in bull baiting. The sports of bull baiting and bear baiting were famous blood sport during the middle of 18th century; they were so popular that even the royals favor this past time.

By 1830, breeders created a new breed that is more agile and brave in fighting with the bulls and bears. With the breeding of Bulldog, Old English Terrier and Spanish Pointer, the Bull Terrier came to be. But to the dismay of the breeders, the Bull Terrier turned to be not so excellent in fights.

The White Cavalier, which is a white coated variety of the Bull Terrier breed, turned out to be inferior in bull baiting but became a fashionable pet. Soon after, this dog became the favored pet of the blue bloods and was proven to be outstanding as a guard dog, watch dog and ratter. Currently, the Bull Terrier has a miniature size and both of them are alike in terms of disposition.

This breed is a compact and well-proportioned dog. It is easily recognizable for its uniquely egg-shaped head. This means that this dog has a head that is flat and wider on top and narrows down towards the nose.

The eyes of the Bull Terrier are almond-shaped, small, dark and closely placed beside each other. The coat is short, dense and skintight. The coat can be colored in black, brindle, pure white, red, fawn and tri-color.

The Bull Terrier is a very powerful dog and often difficult to train; new dog owners are not advised to have this dog. However, it is highly intelligent, reliable and playful. It is affectionate with the family, loves human companionship, and is good with children.

This breed is very protective of young children especially the female dogs. It is active and rough but also amicable with other dogs and animals. This dog needs a daily dose of exercise in order to keep its body and mind healthy.

Does Your Dog Struggle To Get On And Off The Bed?

It’s safe to say that most pet owners are cautious about their pet’s health, be it physical activity, what they eat, their teeth and ears, etc. This article is going to address important part that bed pet steps can play in your cat or dog’s health.

It is often assumed that pet steps are particularly for sick or old pets that are no longer capable of jumping up onto the bed on their own. While it is entirely true that older pets will need steps to protect their joints and muscles, this is true of younger pets as well. The stress of constantly jumping up and down can put pressure on your pet’s body with time.

It is quite common for injuries to pets as well as owners to happen when a pet has to jump up and down from a high bed. To avoid broken bones or collisions with your pet, you will need steps so they can crawl up in a more safer manner.

Pet steps are also essential if you want to get a decent night of sleep. Especially if you own larger sized dogs that can really make a lot of noise and shake the bed when they jump up, you will not be able to sleep peacefully with a pet climbing up and down the mattress during the night.

The disturbance a pet can wreak is very similar to the ways another human being can continually wake you up during the night. You likely spent some time shopping for a mattress that would reduce that motion transfer from a partner, so why would you not give the same courtesy for your pet?

You can understand the amount of stress your pet’s joints go through to absorb the shock from jumping. Pet steps are a healthier, safer alternative to jumping on a bed. When searching for pet steps, you can choose from a variety of designs and styles, such as wooden pet steps and carpeted pet steps.

Is Animal Communication Possible?

Having grown up around animals I always enjoyed their company. My Nan’s dog Wolf was my brother, my playmate, my protector and I spent hours simply just being with him. I was always safe with Wolf and I knew we understood each other, but I was never aware of communicating with him. Animal communication in those days was an unbelievable concept.

By the age of 10 I was convinced you really could talk to the animals. My bond with them was so close, and I knew they understood me. Having watched the original Dr. Doolittle film staring Rex Harrison, I was convinced I was right.

That innocent childlike film stirred so many passions within me. I knew the animals were special, and somewhere in the deep recesses of my soul I knew they could talk. I was ecstatic and very enthusiastic about my future as an animal communicator.

Sadly my dad didn’t share in my dreams. He was rather perplexed when he told me the film wasn’t real, it was purely a piece of fantasy. You can’t talk to the animals, and they can’t talk to you. After all, they are only animals!

The years passed, I started training as a medium and then Sullivan, a gorgeous border collie, entered my life. He’d had a bad start in life and had been extremely ill. Sadly his illness had started to affect his behaviour.

Happily, Heaven came to me, though not in a way I expected. Sullivan my young border collie became extremely ill. His behaviour changed and I was at my wits end of what to do for the best. Sitting quietly with him one evening he showed me pictures of his illness and told me that he had come to help me.

I was communicating with my dog! Dear little Sullivan had had such an impact on my life he had started me on the path of being an animal communicator. This was his purpose in life, to push through my doubts and show me the truth.

As the weeks passed it became obvious that Sullivan had come to help me learn animal communication. He had somehow got through my doubts and spoke to me. Bless him! Having realised my dream was within my grasp, I took my animal communication studies seriously. I now speak dog, cat, horse, rabbit and fish and I don’t need the stethoscope!

Tips On How To Build Dog Kennels

How to build dog kennels is not difficult if the dog owner follows a few easy instructions. When building a dog kennel, the owner can create a plan for a dog kennel that will meet the needs of the owner and the dog.

Dog owners may be tempted to make poor housing or unsafe temporary shelters for their dogs. Many times, this occurs out of the dog owners lack of education or mistakenly thinking the process of building a proper dog kennel is a complicated one.

Local laws may impose restrictions on outdoor dog kennels. Before designing and building a dog kennel, the dog owner should check with the local authorities to find out what, if any, restrictions must be adhered to.

Common instructions for how to build a dog kennel begin with planning the dimensions and materials for the dog kennel. The sizes of the dog, doghouse, and desired opening to the kennel should be considered when planning the dimensions.

As for materials, there are many options. Some dog owners use regular chain link fencing for the walls of the dog kennel. The height of the walls should ensure that the dog will be secure.

The posts for the fencing material should be well secured. This can be done by sinking the posts into concrete.

For the floors of the dog kennel, some dog owners use concrete, wood, or the ground. The ground should only be used if the dog owner is sure that the dog will not dig under the walls of the dog kennel.

If concrete or wood is used, the floor can be built on a slight slope. This allows the dog owner to spray off the floor with a house as a quicker cleaning.

Dog kennels should never be completely in direct sunlight. If there are no natural sources of shade, the dog owner may want to build a roof over part of the dog kennel.

Securing the door with a metal latch prevents the dog from being able to escape the enclosure. Tyi ng the door shut with a rope may seem like an easy solution, but as the rope wears, the dog may be able to stretch it enough to escape.
